Jesus “At Home”

He reclined in the house. ~ Matthew 9:10

One of the characteristics of Jesus is his comfort in any situation. Whether it be among the ppor, the rich . . . even the wicked, Jesus was “at home” no matter where He was. Baxter points this out and even calls Christ “the best mixer” to have ever lived.

In being “at home” in any situation, Jesus is able to do His Father’s work.

I don’t know about you, but this is one area where I struggle. This is mostly becuase I rarely feel “at home” ANYWHERE. It’s an issued I have considered many times throughout my entire life. I have never seemed to fit in with any crowd, group or otherwise. It’s been a source of desperation and even shame. How many people have missed out because I have never felt “at home” enough to share God’s message?

So, aside from the obvious, what makes Jesus different? Sure, there is confidence. But the truth of the matter, it is wisdom. Christ knew that His heavenly Father was everywhere. This entire planet is God’s great home - and Christians are always welcome in God’s home.

Today, my prayer for you and I is that we will always feel “at home” in our Father’s universe and always be “at home” to human need.
