The Master is Here!
March 11, 2007 at 8:00 am | In Awake My Heart |The Master is come, and calleth for thee. ~ John 11:28
How often we use descriptive identifiers like “Lord” and “Savior” or even “Father” but rarely consider “Master” in our choice of terms. But in truth, these words pronounced by Martha to Mary are of profound truth. Jesus is our Master and we are His servants.
Not only is He Master of the human race, more specifically, He is Master in all things moral, in all questions intellectual and in all things emotional.
If Jesus is accepting of standards and ideals, we too must be accepting of them. If Jesus accepts the Jonah narrative as factual record, so must we. We must remember Him as our Master in all we consider and (emotionally) where selfishness becomes a hindrance.
Today, my prayer for you and I is that we will consider the reality that “The Master is (always) HERE” in our lives. Let us serve Him.

I wonder if we’ve got too caught up in the idea of God as our friend. God is indeed our friend but he is also our master and we need realise that we do not belong to ourselves.
Our society (and often our churches) tells us to be an individual and that we should be the masters of our own lives. We need to be counter cultural and lay our lives before the true master.

That’s true Rodney. So often, the “self-made man” is so glorified that we forget that not one of us is self-made.
