The Three Priorities

Lovest thou Me? . . . Feed My sheep . . . Follow Me. ~ John 21: 15, 17, 19

Today, we consider something interesting: What does it take to serve God?

Baxter points us to a couple suggestions.

First, he points out a heart-to-heart talk with Peter in John 21. In it, the Lord asks Simon to “Lovest thou Me?” not once, not twice by three times. Everything hinged upon that answer - and everything hinges upon our answers. Everything is determined by our degree of love for Jesus.

Next, Baxter discusses the sense of ordination by Christ. Just as the Lord asked Peter about his love three times; three times our Lord responded to Peter’s avowal of love: “Feed my lambs.”; “Tend My sheep”; “Feed my sheep.”

The remainder of the devotion discusses Sam Hadley of the Water Street Rescue Mission. Clearly, Hadley was a man whom the Lord empowered through his undeniable ordination.

Today, my prayer for you and I
is that we will grow in our love of the Lord and sense His ordination in our lives.
