More about how we are hidden in God with Christ.

I just finished watching Miami Vice. The movie - not the much better TV show. I may have been the last person on earth to watch it, but I can honestly say I could have gone on with life having not endure the two and half hours.

Anywho, there is a scene near the end where Sonny - poorly played by Colin Farrell - protects a criminal whom he has fallen in love with. He not only shields her from an onslaught of bullets, but he hides her in a safe place. And then, he helps her escape even while she attacks him after realizing he is a cop.

While there is little redeeming value in the storyline - a cop that helps “the bad gal” get away - I am able to finally see some parallel.

With Christ, we are hidden in God - our safe place. Even when we are bad guys and gals, Christ has hidden us. He has shielded us. He has protected us . . . He has helped us escape our previous lives in which we were scoundrels. In fact, He has hid us.

On an ironic note - the movie has sat on my television stand for about a month while I chose not to watch it. Tonight, I finally did. Just before I did this devotion. Huh.

Today, my prayer for you and I is that we will be secure in our safe - hidden - place.
