Singing in the Fire
June 11, 2007 at 7:00 am | In Awake My Heart, God, Prayer, Providence, purpose | No CommentsFor our light affliction, which is but for a moment, worketh for us a far more exceeding and eternal weight of glory. ~ II Corinthians 4:17
Today’s devotion is a continuation of yesterday’s in which we talk about the nature of afflictions. Baxter discusses and counters the sometimes supposed belief that Christians often seem to have more afflictions than the ungodly.
I really can think of very little to expound upon that can add to the discussion that doesn’t repeat what I wrote yesterday other than to suggest that in dealing with afflictions, we must rely upon God and prayerfully ask for His guidance in overcoming them.
I really believe that it is only through adversity that our character is formed. Just like a ball of clay, He molds us through the pressure we experience.
Today, my prayer for you and I is that we will view all in the light of eternity.
