Where and When and Why

From the end of the earth will I cry unto thee; when my heart is overwhelmed; lead me to the Rock that is higher than I. ~ Psalm 61:2

Note: This devotion is from July 23.

Continuing from the previous devotion, let’s consider the way David prays:

Where: From the end of the earth.
When: When my heart is overwhelmed.
Why: Lead me to the Rock that is higher than I.

There are three great lessons here:

God in Christ is our immovable Rock and Refuge, cleft to be our hiding place.
This Rock is “higher” than we are, and high above all the storms.
We need to be “led” there - and that is what the Holy Spirit does for us in every stormy trial.

Today, I pray that you and I will remember our umbrella of the Holy Spirit for those days of stormy trials.
