About
In 1995, God placed a vision upon me. It was not until 2006 that I was able to discern the intent or meaning of it, however. Following extensive self-reflection, tons of thought and a lot of Bible study, I was finally able to do so. To read more about that sequence of events, please read here.
No Other Rock is an extension of that vision. How often have you felt as though you have walked through your life more asleep than awake? Fifty percent? Seventy-five percent? One Hundred?
13 But everything exposed by the light becomes visible, 14 for it is light that makes everything visible. This is why it is said:
“Wake up, O sleeper,
rise from the dead,
and Christ will shine on you.” ~ Ephesians 5:13-14
As I first write this, at the age of 30, I may now be awake for the first time in my life. I begin this blog on day one of 2007 as a personal pursuit of becoming more Christ-like in my ways. I invite each of you to follow along and/or join in this journey through commenting on what I write.
This quest is really an extension of something that was started in 2006 when I attempted to read the Bible in 90 days. I did it . . . but there were many “Bible-less” days scattered between readings over 354 days.
I have selected a daily devotional to ensure that I am in the Word in some manner every single day of the year. If all goes well, we’ll select another devotional for 2008 and each year thereafter. For the first year, I selected J. Sidlow Baxter’s Awake, My Heart to launch this quest. It is with good reason I have selected this book. Sure, it is from 1994, but that makes used copies readily available at discount prices and I simply feel that, given the vision I had, this is indeed THE devotional I am to use.
I deeply want others to have the ability to learn and develop spiritually at the same time I do so. For that reason, I have implemented three very important policies;
First, all comments will be approved by me before they appear. This will eliminate any needless spam and inappropriate words. I am a proponent of free speech, but I am also a proponent of preventing slander and riff-raff for the betterment of an on-line community if possible.
Secondly, solicitations will be limited. I have not set out on this voyage to make money from a blog. There may be a few links that direct to products that can be purchased – but it will be done only when necessary. However, there will be no AdSense, banners, buttons or any links to the plethora of supposed ways to earn money as a blogger. I will link to some traffic drivers or exchanges, but not at the expense of cluttering the blog or intruding upon the purpose of personal spiritual development.
Finally, linking to other sites will only be done when necessary to provide context. When there are instances that I write about something that references an item, event, person or whatever and I feel that elaborating would detract from the point, I will link to a resource that describes it and allow those of you who are reading it to determine if it is something you want to click through. In all instances, such links will open in new windows so you can continue reading along after you have finished on the third party site. That said, I must also state the obvious – that I don’t control those sites (in most instances) and make no promises that the content on such sites will not be offensive. Click at your own risk.

Thank you for your website and you spreading the truth about our savior, Jesus.
So many people are “asleep” in their religion and think that all they have to do is show up on sunday morning and they are saved.
We should be a shinning light everyday, all day, to everyone.
I don’t mean shove the Bible done their throats, just living your life and talking to people normally, not fanatcally!
We should strive to be Christ like, not “Bible Thumpers” or better than thou!

Steve- Thanks for commenting. I am amazed at how much work this has been over the two short months I’ve been at it. But comments like yours give me the encouragement to keep going. Besides, nobody ever said our walk with Christ would be easy.

Just wanted to extend my support for your site… A refreshing change from most of the ‘religious’ stuff that can be found. As a self-professed, non-denominational Christian, I praise God that there are enough daring, Jesus-loving Christians still out there to do His will, no matter what it costs them, no matter where He takes them. I pray that God blesses not just you through your sacrifice and vision, but also reaches out to change lives.
Well done!

I’ll probably (based on desire) be joining your group of readers, but if I begin to seem like I really really like what you are doing, you better shoot me. I also avoid worshipping anything other than my creator, and His Gift to us. Meanwhile, I also do not make it so obvious (sometimes) that my heart is only for Him and not really for “us” so much when we are still messed up here on this world. As if anyone didn’t know we were messed up here!
Thanks for *any* time you put into this, since that is all we have to “use” in making our efforts, or in eating, drinking, and being merry (like I once did lots). Please feel really good about yourself, and come back and read this if you ever feel blue and don’t want to. Encouragement — even just a wee bit of it — really can go a looooooooooong way! I always remember it, I know.
